The Computer Science Department aspires to be an outstanding academic institution for teaching and research in computing. The department is to be the best locally, one of the leading Computer Science departments in the region, and recognized internationally.
Computer Science Department Mission
1. The Computer Science Department provides an internationally-recognized Computer Science education at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
2. The department is committed to preparing its graduates for a productive career in the realm of computing. Computer Science graduates are prepared for both industrial and academic careers in public or private sectors.
3. The department provides the potential for its graduates to continue their study at a higher level in highly reputable universities.
4. The graduates of the department are prepared to serve the state of Kuwait and the region and to be the future leaders for technological advancement in all computer science related areas.

6. The department participates in the society development through providing professional training and services, community service programs and inter-disciplinary programs. The department emphasizes at all levels ethical responsibilities to the profession and society.
Educational Program
The Computer Science Department offers bachelor’s, and Master’s degrees in Computer Science. The Department gives special importance to research activity. The salient research areas in the Department include Computer Networks, Pattern Recognition, Neural Nets, Data Bases, Artificial Intelligence, Translator Design, Computer Structure, Programming Languages, Parallel Computing, Computer Graphic Design, Information Theory, and Cryptography.
In addition to computer and teaching services, Department faculty members are involved with most of the committees at the University and Faculty level.
The Department contributes to the welfare of the community through a variety of short courses and review sessions designed for high school students administered by the Faculty’s Consultation and Training Office. Many of the Department faculty members cooperate with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, as well as the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (K.F.A.S.), the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (K.I.S.R.) and the National Council for Culture, Arts and Literature. Some faculty members render important services for many well-known scientific organizations and associations, and they participate in the review of many of the research projects and papers presented in conferences or published in scientific journals.
